About Me

Empowering Mothers Through Mindful Yoga Journeys

Based in Aalborg, Denmark, I created Mamasana.dk to support mothers through prenatal and postnatal yoga. Rooted in a personal journey of motherhood and certified expertise, my mission is to build and nurture individual and community connection through yoga.

Meet Me

My name is Maria Antonietta. I’m a proud mom of two wonderful children, born in 2022 and 2025, a loving wife, a trained lawyer, and someone who has spent much of her professional life in the corporate world of energy. But beyond all these roles, I am simply a woman trying to live life fully — with curiosity, awareness and compassion.

ve practiced yoga for more than ten years. For a long time, it was something I loved. But after going through a deeply difficult personal experience in 2024, yoga became something more.It became a way back to myself.Together with the support of the people around me, my practice helped me move through a period when it would have been very easy to lose myself in judgment — of my body, my circumstances, my emotions, or the idea of how life should look.Instead, yoga kept reminding me to come back to the present moment. To notice what was there without immediately trying to change it.To remember that one difficult experience, one difficult day, or even one difficult state of mind does not define the whole of our lives. And perhaps most importantly, it taught me that there is nothing shameful about the experiences women go through. Our bodies and our lives carry stories that are not always visible to others — and we deserve space to move through them with kindness rather than judgment.

Becoming a yoga teacher

When I became pregnant with my second baby, I felt ready to take my yoga practice further. I had started a teacher training years earlier, but life — including moving countries — had taken me in a different direction. So, while carrying my baby, I returned to that path.In 2025, I completed my 100-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training at the Center for Yoga and Mindfulness in Skørping with Vanille Simeon. During my extended maternity leave in 2026, I continued my education with specialist training in prenatal and postnatal yoga through YogaRenew. And then something unexpected happened.I discovered how much I loved sharing yoga with other women and mothers.I started teaching classes to fellow moms in my backyard throughout the summer. What began as a few simple classes quickly became something much bigger: a space to move, breathe, talk, connect and simply be.That experience became Mamasana.

What my children taught me about yoga

There is something I find fascinating about young children. In yoga philosophy, samadhi is often described as a state of deep presence — a state in which we are no longer caught up in judgment, expectation or the stories we tell ourselves. And then I look at my children. They are completely absorbed in what is happening right now. They are curious without needing to know the outcome. They experience before they judge. They fall and get back up.They inhabit their bodies without questioning whether they look right. They don’t compare this moment with the one before it or worry about what the next one should look like. They simply are.Watching them has made me realise that perhaps some of the deepest things yoga teaches us are things we knew instinctively as children — and spend adulthood trying to remember.Motherhood has become one of my greatest teachers in this sense.

Why Mamasana?

I believe mothers deserve a space that belongs to them.A space to reconnect with their bodies after birth, or while preparing for it.A space to become stronger without feeling that they need to “get their body back.”A space to breathe when life feels full.A space where babies are welcome, imperfect days are welcome, and nobody expects you to leave motherhood at the door.

What yoga means to me

For me, yoga is not about creating a perfect body or achieving the most impressive pose. The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit root yuj, meaning “to yoke” or “to join.” I think of that as a connection — between body and mind, between what we experience and the stories we create around it, and ultimately between ourselves and the world around us.The practice is a reminder that we don’t have to believe every thought we have, judge every feeling we experience, or measure our worth by how well we are coping. We can pause. We can breathe. We can come back to ourselves. And when we learn to meet ourselves with a little more compassion, we create more space for connection, presence and love — for ourselves and for the people we care for.

From one mother to another

Mamasana started with a simple thought: What if motherhood didn’t have to mean losing yourself — but could become another way of finding yourself? This is the space I want to create with Mamasana.A space for moms, bumps and babies to move, connect, and grow together.
